Aryabhatta is one of the great Mathematician in ancient times. He was born in AD at kusumapura or Pataliputra.
He was the head of the Kusumapara Institution which organized by Nalanda University. The University was very famous in those days and attracted the students from all over the world. Even the Chinese, Japanese, Tibetans and many students cross the Himalayas for the purpose of joining in Nalanda University.

Since his childhood days, Aryabhata was very brilliant in studies and eager to learn new things. Especially, mathematics attracted him and did many experements before the higher education.
When his studies completed in local gurus, he wanted to study higher education by going to University in Kusumapura. So joined in Kusumapura university for advanced studied and lived there up to his education. There he studied the Buddhist and Hindu traditions and understand the internal meanings of Hindu scriptures written by sages.
During the education, his tremendous talent in education made him kulapati to one of the institution at Kusumapura. According to the historians, he was also became head of the Nalanda University in Pataliputra. The Pataliputra had an astronomical observatory, which was installed and observed into Universe by Aryabatta.
