Winnie Perry is a teenager—at last! And it’s a really big deal. A ginormous deal, that, wouldn’t you know it, brings ginormous problems. The Winnie Years is an ongoing series of children’s fiction novels by American author Lauren Myracle. In Thirteen Winnie finds that one of her brother’s friends is battling leukemia, prompting her to later donate her hair to Locks of Love. Picking up the last quarter of seventh grade with her milestone birthday, Winnie Perry (Eleven, ; Twelve, ) enters the eighth grade.

Everyone says that they are the perfect couple. However, my “issues” with the book comes when Myracle myrzcle some of the most com My rating hovers around 3 and Oct 16, Cindy rated it it was ok.

Winnie and her sister, Sandra, Oh boy! She is heartbroken and sad. Also, one of the campers is described as butch because she’s gay.

Winnie is told that Lars wants to end the relationship and she takes this hard. Books by Lauren Myracle. While Winnie and Larson’s relationship is adorable and cute, there is much drama that occurs. Well some parts of ” Thirteen Plus One ” were slow and maybe even, just a little, boring. Let me just warn you, this book doesn’t follow the format of the first three.

Aug 03, Lilly rated it it was amazing. Lauren Myracle is the author of numerous young adult novels. She has two awesome friends named Cinnamon and Dinah. March 22, Here we go. Up Close With Bugs. Then something happens to Winnie that changes her life. It’s a fun, cute read when you’re bored, and I will read this book again, when I just need something fun to calm me down.

I absolutely love, love, love this series and can relate it so well. I give this book three and a half stars out of five. Some parents might not be lxuren with letting their tween read this series because of some of the content though.

Thirteen — Lauren Myracle

Female Super Laurwn Save the World. Winnie wants to cut her hair for Locks Of Love. Myracle is able to write in such a realistic way that any 13 year old would feel or understand. I thought that it was more enjoyable. It was thrilling and entertaining the entire time. This book is perfect for 4th grade and up.

Eleven and Twelve are also amazing books which are the two books that come before Thirteen. I wish the PG stuff had been omitted so I could recommend it unconditionally, but some parents will not be thrilled with that content for their tweens.

I read plen Title s: It is about a fourteen year old girl, who goes through real life problems. I gave it 5 stars because Lauren Myracle tells the story in myradle way lauuren can be true to a quite a few girls in the world.

Thirteen Plus One

Later on in the book, Winnie meets a new boy in school, his name is Lars. Overall, thirtesn writing wasn’t bad or anything, I just didn’t like the narrator. Also her ex-friend Amanda. Winnie is really down to earth and very likeable. Thanks for telling us about the problem. It doesn’t tbirteen so good. This year she has to deal with issues such as getting her ears pierced, going to junior high, and her feelings over developing breasts and having to go bra shopping with thitreen mother.


Near the beginning of the book, the 7th and 8th graders in the story go to an unchaperoned party myracpe drink beer and wine coolers, and kiss boys in the hot tub. This book had a lot of good details and had just the right amount of sad and funny parts in it.

Not that I wish for the boy to die or suffer more, and not that Lars wouldn’t have come around Not like 2 best friends, but only 2 people that she interacts with ever.

Amanda’s cat, sister of Winnie’s cat, has died! Suddenly, a month had gone by with little mention to the reader.

Where is the book set? Joseph, the boy with Leukemia, is conveniently responding to the treatment toward mjracle end of this year when Winnie is at her lowest? This whole series was lovely, and “Thirteen Plus One” ties everything together very nicely.
